CALL FOR PAPERS FGWM 2009 Workshop "Knowledge and Experience Management" of the knowledge management working group http://lwa09.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/bin/view/WM/WebHomeEnglish German Version: Workshop "Wissens- und Erfahrungsmanagement" der Fachgruppe Wissensmanagement http://lwa09.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/bin/view/WM/WebHome This workshop takes place in the context of the meeting of the knowledge management working group (http://www.fgwm.de) of the German society of computer science (GI) and is to make an interdisciplinary forum available both for scientists and practitioners. The exchange of innovative ideas and practical applications in the field of knowledge and experience management is the desired goal of this workshop. Therefore submissions from the current research out of these and adjacent areas are welcome. Moreover, contributions that describe work in progress or approaches that have not yet been investigated comprehensively, thus having a provisional character, are of interest. The latter should, however, be described sufficiently clearly and in a structured way, in order to serve as a basis for interesting discussions among the participants. *Topics of Interest*: * Experience/knowledge search and knowledge integration approaches (case-based reasoning, logic-based approaches, text-based approaches, semantic portals/wikis/blogs, Web 2.0, etc.) * Applications of knowledge and experience management (corporate memories, e-commerce, design, tutoring/e-learning, e-government, software engineering, robotics, medicine, etc.) * (Semantic) Web Services for knowledge manangement * Agile approaches within the knowledge management domain * Agent-based & Peer-to-Peer knowledge management * Just-in-time retrieval and just-in-time knowledge capturing * Ways of knowledge representation (ontologies, similarity, retrieval, adaptive knowledge, etc.) * Support of authoring and maintenance processes (change management, requirements tracing, (distributed) version control, etc.) * Evaluation of knowledge management systems * Practical experiences ("lessons learned") with IT aided approaches * Integration of knowledge management and business processes ---+ Important Dates (all times CEST) * Submission of papers: 5th June 2009 * Notification of acceptance: 5th July 2009 * Camera ready copies due: 20th July 2009 * Workshop: 21st to 23rd September 2009 ---+ Submissions All papers submitted to the workshop will be reviewed. Thus, declarative software engineering techniques have been established in many areas, such as knowledge systems, logic programming, constraint programming, and lately in the context of the Semantic Web and business rules. The fifth workshop on Knowledge Engineering and Software Engineering (KESE 2009) wants to bring together researchers and practitioners from fields of software engineering and artificial intelligence, as well as the Semantic Web community. The intention is to give ample space for exchanging latest research results as well as knowledge about practical experience. Topics of Interest ================== Topics of interest include but are not limited to: - Knowledge and software engineering for the Semantic Web - Ontologies in practical knowledge and software engineering - Business Rules design and management - Knowledge representation, reasoning and management - Practical knowledge representation and discovery techniques in software engineering - Agent-oriented software engineering - Database and knowledge base management in AI systems - Evaluation and verification of intelligent systems - Practical tools for intelligent systems - Process models in AI applications - Declarative, logic-based approaches - Constraint programming approaches Submission Details ================== Papers should be formatted according to the Springer LNCS guidelines. The length of each paper should not exceed 12 pages for regular papers and 6 pages for short papers (including figures and references), see: ftp.springer.de/pub/tex/latex/llncs/latex2e/llncs2e.zip All papers must be written in English and submitted in PDF format with the A4 paper size explicitly set in LaTeX. Submissions will be made via EasyChair: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=kese2009. Important dates =============== Paper submission deadline: June 8, 2009 Notification of paper acceptance: July 8, 2009 Camera ready copy submission: July 27, 2009 Call for Tool Presentations =========================== This year we also strongly encourage the submission of tool presentation papers, i.e., system descriptions that clearly show the interaction between research and practice. Such papers could be shorter, and have to be explicitly identified as tool presentation. Organization ============ The one-day workshop will be held with presentations of accepted papers. The submitted papers will be reviewed by at least two members of the program committee. A comfortable time slot for discussions will be given. The proceedings will be published as a technical report before the workshop, and as CEUR Workshop Proceedings (CEUR-WS.org) later on. Workshop Chairs G. J. Nalepa, AGH UST Krakow J. Previous ICCBR conferences have been held in Sesimbra, Portugal (1995), Providence, Rhode Island, USA (1997), Seeon Monastery, Germany (1999), Vancouver, BC, Canada (2001), Trondheim, Norway (2003), Chicago, Illinois, USA (2005) and Belfast, Northern Ireland (2007). ICCBR'09 will be held in Seattle, Washington from 20 July to 23 July 2009, on the week following IJCAI-09, which will also take place on the west coast of the North America in Pasadena, California. In order to expand the frontiers of CBR as a scientific field, we would like to (1) emphasize the connections between CBR and related areas, and (2) explore new problems and industrial solutions. Another primary objective of ICCBR-09 is to encourage new members to join the CBR community and regularly attend / participate in this premier CBR conference. Thus, the ICCBR-09 program will include several new ideas along with the regular keynote addresses, technical program, applications track and workshop sessions. Details on these elements of the program can be found on the ICCBR-09 web site. ------------------------------ ICCBR-09 Program Highlights ------------------------------ Keynote Talks Susan Craw Edwina Rissland Doctoral Consortium ICCBR-09 will hold the 1st CBR Doctoral Consortium (DC) with the following objectives: (1) To provide a supportive setting for feedback on students' current research and guidance on future research directions, (2) To offer each student comments and fresh perspectives on their work from faculty and students outside their own institution, and (3) To promote the development of a supportive community of scholars and a spirit of collaborative research. The DC gives early stage postgraduate students the important opportunity to discuss their research ideas and get very valuable feedback. Computer Cooking Contest The 2nd Computer Cooking Contest (CCC) will take place at ICCBR-09 and aims to attract new people to deal with AI technologies such as case-based reasoning, semantic technologies, search and information extraction. The CCC is an open competition. Any individual, student, research group and professional is invited to submit software that creates a recipe, such as for a single dish or even a three course menu, i.e., recipes for a starter, a main dish and a dessert. The input will be a database of basic recipes from which appropriate recipes must be selected, modified or even combined. The queries to the system consist of a number of desired ingredients and other requirements for the dish or menu. Industry / Applications Track Presentations ICCBR-09 invites submissions for a special presentation-only track of deployed applications on all aspects of Case-Based Reasoning. The applications track provides an opportunity for both industry and academic application developers to showcase their work in 20-30 minute high-quality presentations, without the need to write a paper. This event takes place on one day and is an excellent way for industry members to interact with students and academic researchers. Presenters must submit an email expressing their interest and a short (one paragraph) description of their work to cheetham@research.ge.com by the specified deadline. Please make the subject of this email "ICCBR-09 Applications Track Submission." Opportunities are also available to sponsor ICCBR-09 and have an official conference presence. Workshops ICCBR-09 invites proposals for full day or half day workshops as part of the Workshop Program. ICCBR-09 workshops will provide an informal setting in which participants will have the opportunity to meet and discuss topics with a selected CBR focus in an environment that encourages the exchange of ideas. Recent ICCBR workshop focus areas have included: health sciences, textual CBR, computer gaming, process workflows, context awareness, uncertainty, and knowledge discovery. ------------------ People Involved ------------------ General Program Chairs: - David C.
